General notes: Silversmith Events in his life were: • Referred to as a goldsmith in report of the marriage of Hall's daughter, Hannah, to Amos Munson. According to Spear in American Watch Papers, he worked c1780's-1800 in Church Street, advertising he made clocks, carefully repaired watches, and did most kinds of jewelry work. His engraved watch paper, signed A. Doolittle, is in the collection of the American Antiquarian Society. In the Connecticut Journal (02 March 1809), Charles Hequembough published a notice he was starting business, ". . . at the sign of the Gold Watch, at the store lately occupied by John H. Hall, Church Street." 3 John married Abiah Macomber about 1751 in New Haven CT. (Abiah Macomber was born about 1730 in New Haven CT and died on 13 Nov 1798 in New Haven CT.) |
