John Noyes
General notes: Silversmith Events in his life were: • Apprenticed about 1687 to Jeremiah Dummer in Boston MA 1
• Candlestick, 1695-1700 • Appointed in 1704 as Constable in Boston MA he declined to serve and paid his fine. 9
• Forks, c 1710 • In March 1699 he married Susanna Edwards, sister of John Edwards. Although the marriage was performed by the Reverend Samuel Willard of the Third (later the Old South) Church, John Noyes appears among the founders of the Church in Brattle Square in December of that year. He was Fourth Sergeant of the Artillery Company in 1699-1709, and is mentioned as "Ensign Noyes" in Sewall's diary in 1702 when he was given a silver cup for his marksmanship. Five daughters are recorded to John and Susanna Noyes, the first in 1701 and the fourth named Sarah. The latter, born in 1712, was granted administration of her father's estate when he died intestate. 9 John married Susanna Edwards on 16 Mar 1699 in Boston MA. (Susanna Edwards was born about 1678 in Newburyport MA.) |
