General notes: Silversmith, jeweler, and watchmaker Events in his life were: • Apprenticed about 1840 to William Moulton in Newburyport MA 10 • He worked from circa 1847 to 1857 as a silversmith in Newburyport MA listed in the 1850 city directory at 11 Merrimac Street.
• He was a partner from 1857 to 1873 with Anthony Towle in Newburyport MA as TOWLE & JONES, having purchased the business of their master. In 1870 the name was changed to TOWLE, JONES & Co, with the admittance of Edward Towle. 10
• Alternate Mark for TOWLE & JONES. • He worked from 1873 to 1903 as a silversmith in Newburyport MA listed in city directories at 28 State Street (1879-1884) and 26 State Street (1889-1903).
