• He worked after 1740 as a silversmith in Boston MA
It seems likely from the records that he worked primarilly as a supplier of parts, particularly bezel wire, to other makers. He was also granted a licence in 1753 to sell strong drink from a stall on Fleet Street. In the memoirs of silversmith Samuel Davis, he is recalled as a poor man, living in obscurity. ⁷

Joseph married Katherine Haley, daughter of William Haley and Sarah Ingersoll, on 15 Nov 1752 in Boston MA. (Katherine Haley was born on 9 Feb 1712 in Boston MA.)
