General notes: Silversmith Events in his life were: • He was a partner from 1781 to 1789 with Joseph Pearsall in New York City NY as PEARSALL & EMBREE. • Advertised in the Royal Gazette (New York City NY), 28 Mar 1781, as PEARSALL & EMBREE, announcing their move to the corner of Beekman's Slip, “where they continue to repair Watches as usual.” • He worked from 1789 to 1795 as a silversmith and clockmaker in New York City NY • Advertised in the Daily Advertiser (New York City NY), 23 Feb 1791, offering watches, jewelry, plate, and silver goods. 4 • Advertised in the The Argus (New York City NY), 23 Jun 1795, informing the public he would be succeeded by Stephen van Wyck. 4
• Pocket watch, c 1795 • He worked after 1795 as a silversmith and clockmaker in Flushing NY Effingham married Mary Lawrence on 26 Dec 1780 in Flushing NY. (Mary Lawrence was born on 17 Oct 1763 in Flushing NY and died on 16 Sep 1831.) |
