General notes: Silversmith Events in his life were: • Apprenticed from 1782 to 1787 to Samuel Canfield in Middletown CT 6 • He worked from 1787 to 1788 as a silversmith in Middletown CT from his shop opposite Mrs. Bigelow's Tavern. 3 • He was a partner from 1789 to 1790 with Isaac Sanford in Hartford CT as SANFORD & JOHONNOT. 3 • Advertised in the American Mercury (Hartford CT), Nov 1789, for the partnership of SANFORD & JOHONNOT. 4 • He worked from 1792 to 1806 as a silversmith in Windsor VT 3 • He was a partner c 1806 with William Johonnot in Windsor VT as WILLIAM & WILLIAM JOHONNOT. 3 • Advertised in the The Post-Boy (Windsor VT), 26 Aug 1806, announcing the dissolution of partnership with William Johonnot. 4 • He was a partner from 1809 to 1815 with ? Tuells in Windsor VT as JOHONNOT & TUELLS from shop of William Johonnot opposite Captain Pette's Coffee Shop. • Advertised in the Vermont Republican (Windsor VT), Sep 1809, for the partnership of TUELLS & JOHONNOT who carry o the business of watch and clock repairing and offer "Gold and Silver work . . . spoons, tongs, etc." 4
• He was a partner in 1815 with Richard Ransom Smith in Windsor VT as JOHONNOT & SMITH. 3 • Advertised in the Spooner's Vermont Journal (Windsor VT), 11 Dec 1815, offering "Gold and Silver manufacured to any pattern." 3 |
