William Selkirk
General notes: Silversmith Events in his life were: • Apprenticed about 1805 to John F. Doty in Albany NY • He worked from 1814 to 1817 as a silversmith in Albany NY as foreman in the shop of John F. Doty. 15 • Master to Charles Selkirk 1814-1815 in Albany NY. Suffering from ill health, Charles cut short his training and returned home and eventually became a carpenter. • He was a partner from 1817 to 1819 with Rufus Putnam in Albany NY as SHELKIRK & PUTNAM. 15 • He worked after 1822 as a surveyor in Texas as one of Austin's Old Three Hundred colonists. William married Matilda Hallenbake on 22 Nov 1813 in Albany NY. (Matilda Hallenbake was born on 18 Jan 1794 in Bethlehem NY and died on 25 Aug 1820 in Bethlehem NY.) |
