What is the SACKETT Mailing List?

The list (created 21-FEB-1997) is intended as a discussion area for anyone who has an interest in genealogy related to the SACKETT family and SACKETT descendants and any surnames derived from SACKETT.

Derivatives of the SACKETT surname may include SACKET, SAKET, SACKETTE, SACKIT, or other derivatives.

Discussion of SACKETTs in all locations is certainly welcomed and encouraged, especially any that would allow extending the ancestry further in England, the nation of ancestry.

This family discussion group moved from the MAISER server to RootsWeb, 5/11/1997 where it was named SACKETT-L. During the summer of 2006 RootsWeb changed software from SmartList to MailMan. With this change the "-L" was dropped from the name to just SACKETT Mailing List. People should be able to subscribe and unsubscribe themselves by sending a message to SACKETT-request@rootsweb.com that contains (in the body of the message) the word subscribe or unsubscribe.

Notice:

During the months from April through September 2003, a steering group of members of the SACKETT Mailing List formed an association named The Sackett Family Association (TSFA). The objectives of the Association are:

a ) To research all historical and genealogical records worldwide relating to the Sackett family and their descendants
b) To publish and otherwise share research findings amongst the membership
c) To preserve Sackett data for posterity.

In furtherance of the above objectives the Association shall:

a) Provide a forum for individuals engaged in Sackett research. In particular the Association shall maintain a Sackett Family web site (under construction) and an email Discussion List (SACKETT).
b) Maintain and publish a Register of Members.

In addition, TSFA will publish quarterly newsletters, the first one was published October, 2003. Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to be able to view the newsletters. If you do not have this reader, you may download it free from the following URL: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

If you are interested in joining us in our endeavors to preserve the research of the SACKETT surname, TSFA asks that you follow two steps:

First become a member of SACKETT Mailing List to enable quick communications.
Request TSFA membership through the Registrar.
