The Old Home Place

Photo Album

The home place now stands vacant...

The barn is missing.

It was torn down in the late 1990's, moved by semis across the lake and reconstructed on a farm near Blinko.

The view from the southwest.

A large patch of thistles in the front.

Grandpa's Whiskers vine is still thriving on the fence as well as the Snowball scrub at the side gate.

The garage and hen house are missing.

The only building left standing is the house.

The pine tree Papaw brought home in his hunting jacket 40 years ago is the large tree on the right side of this picture.

The tree north of the pine tree is the Pawpaw tree!  The Colonel Van Fleet rose is blooming to it's heart's content.  It's the best smelling rose in the world but with HUGE thorns!  Fertilizer not needed nor never added.

Another view from the west.

You can see here that the fence has been removed from the large gate north and the kitchen door is boarded shut.

The old sycamore still stands!

It was slightly burnt during the 1936 barn fire. It has always had a hollow side. Garens and Cluffs always worried that it would blow over in a storm. It still stands. They are gone.

Another view of the sycamore and more of the barnyard.

With Donnie this time.

We LOVE that sycamore!
