SCOPE AND CONTENT
The Trabue-Thompson Family Papers, 1822-1976, is a collection of about 300 items
contained in two Hollinger boxes. The major part of the collection relates to materials relating
to the family of Mr. George T. Thompson and his wife, Martha Trabue Thompson.
Except for two folders of genealogical material, the collection is arranged alphabetically,
the chronologically. Among the Trabue family accounts are many documents relating to
business transacted with the Thompson Company. Included in folder one of accounts is a
household ledger of Martha “Mattie” Thompson that includes accounts for groceries,
transportation and other expenses incurred during summer months spent at Beersheba Springs,
Tennessee.
The attorney’s notebook is a small volume that appears to be a docket with the cases
crossed out. Notations include Sumner, Smith, and Wilson County courts. Six folders of
correspondence is arranged alphabetically and is largely personal in nature. The travel diary of
Annie K. Thompson is an account of an ocean crossing from Montreal, Canada, and her travels
in England. The three memorandum books of Martha Walker Thompson include information
such as cards and gifts sent and received each year, and selected household expenses.
Additional resources in the Tennessee State Library and Archives include The Trabue
