Born in Raleigh, Shelby County TN to Roderick Theophilus Shivers. Harry was raised in Raleigh until Roderick moved their house in multiple pieces down Jackson Avenue and used it to create 2-3 smaller houses for the family. Harry is listed as a boat builder and retired as a postal carrier in Memphis. Harry was married twice. His first wife Elizabeth Delaney died giving birth to their second child Harry Franklin Shviers jr. Dorothy Shivers was their first child.
