James Wood esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia 
to all to whom these presents shall come Greeting Know ye 
that by Virtue of a Sand Office Teeasury Warrant number nine 
thousand and thirteen issued the twenty first day of November 
one thousand seven hundred and eighty one there is granted
by the said Commonwealth unto John Berryhill a Certain Tract 
or parcel of Land Containing fifty two Arcres by Survey bearing 
date the eighth day of December one thousand seven hundred and 
ninety two lying and being in the County of Rockbridge adjoining 
the  land of Robert McQuillan and his own in the forks of James 
River and is bounded as followeth to wit Beginning at a Black 
oak and white oak on his old line on a hill Corner to said 
McQuillan's land and with a line of the same North thirty eight 
degrees West one hundred poles to a black oak on the top of a 
hill by a Road thence South fifty one degrees West eighty six 
poles Crossing two hollars to a Hickory and dogwood on the top 
of hill by a Road thence South fifty nine degrees East thirty 
one poles to a white oak on the side of a hill thence South two 
Six degrees East forty six poles to a Walnut and Elm on Black 
Run South Seventy one degrees East fifty poles to a Black oak 
and white oak on his old line thence with the same North thirty 
four degrees East Sixty poles the Beginning with its Appertenances 
to have and to hold the said Tract or parcel of land with its 
Appertenances to the said John Berryhill and his heirs forever 
In Witness whereof the said James Wood Esquire Governor of the 
Commonwealth of Virginia hath hereunto set his hand and Caused 
the before Seat of the said Commonwealth to be Affixed at Richmond 
on the fifth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand 
Seven hundred and ninety seven and of the Commonwealth the 
twenty first James Wood
