The John Berryhill , Elizabeth Derrisaw family were members of the
Creek Nation that went to Oklahoma with the Chilly McIntosh party.
Gen'l William McIntosh bio: Indian leader and soldier from Carrol
County, Ga, He was the son of a Creek indian and a British officer.
Leader of the Lower Creeks during the alliance with the USA during
the War of 1812. He served in the Seminole campaign under Andrew
Jackson in Florida. He was killed in his home May 1 1825 by a party
of angered Upper Creek indians because of his policies toward the
white settlers.

Johns wife Martha Elizabeth Durouzeaux (Deer I Saw) was a half-blood
with French Huguenot and Creek indian. she was a member of the
Wind Clan of the Creeks. Her parents were James and "Creek Maiden"
Durouzeaux. She was born 1768 in Old Creek Nation, Ga and died in
1833 in Chilly NcIntosh Party, Ok.
The Creek (Muscogee) translation for Berryhill is Hockaltubbi clan.
Settlement centered in the peace town called "Broken Arrow" that sat
on the Alabama and Georgia border. The Post War 1812 settlement
translated their names.
