John VANCE was the son of David VANCE (1721-1768) and
Janet ___ (
John and his first
wife, name unknown, had three children,
according to probate documents filed in
1814 in
and had a son by her. Mary Wallingford
Vance’s father, Benjamin Wallingford, was
appointed guardian of the three children by John’s first wife: George, Anna and

Mary W. Vance married again after John’s death, to Uriah Humble, Jr., on
September 3, 1818,

The State of
To all whom their presents shall come know ye That by the Honorable the Judge of the court of common pleas of said County at the September term of said court in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen, Benjamin Wallingford was appointed Guardian of the person and Estate of George B. Vance an orphan and minor aged fifteen years the 19th day of November 1817, one of the heirs and legal representatives of John Vance, dec’d. Agreeably to the statute of this state in such case enacted.
In testimony whereof I, Saul Henkle, Clerk of the Court of common
pleas of said county have hereunto set my hand affixed my seal of office at
Saul Henkle, Clerk, C.C.P.C.C.

Agreeably to the statute of this state in such case enacted.
