This web site forms the basis of my study into the name Sherwin in Derbyshire. On the 1664-70 hearth tax there are Sherwin's in three distinct area's of the county. To the West of Derby in the villages of Rodsley, Edlaston and Boylestone the family's are related to St Ralph Sherwin and descended from his parents John and Constance. In the High Peak area there are family's in Calvar and Winster. Just to the west of Derby there is a family in Draycott, and just below Derby there are two families in Alvaston and Boulton.Taking this as a starting point I have tried to trace the name through the Villages of Derbyshire.
