I do not know where Mary and the children are in 1870, I have not found them on the index and they are not in any of the Holcomb households in Cherokee or Pickens County, if anyone knows where they are enumerated I would appreciate hearing from you.
This page will now deal with Asa and Mary's children and grandchildren.
Henry Jackson Holcomb and his children
Henry Jackson Holcomb, the son of Asa and Mary Ann Townsend Holcomb, was born 22 April 1851, probably in Cherokee County, Georgia. On March 6 1873, he married Martha Blevins Rebecca Ann Cook, born Jun3 1851, the only daughter of Richard and Sarah Land Cook. Henry Jackson and Martha settled in Pickens County with Henry farming and Martha rearing their children, sometime before 1900 they moved to Chattooga County, Georgia, where Martha had brothers there and in nearby Floyd County, Georgia. But sometime before 1910 wander lust hit them again and this time they moved to Texas possibly following her brother Richard, but they didn't stay there by 1920 they have settled in Louisiana in Webster Parish where they are still found in 1930 but when Henry Jackson died 10 February 1943 he was in nearby Caddo Parish. (Source: Louisiana Death Index; Certificate #61453) I have not found a listing for Martha yet, if anyone knows her date of death and where they are buried I would appreciate hearing from you. Henry and Martha had these children
- James A., born abt 1875, Georgia
- Henry J., born July 1878, Georgia
- George I., born June 1879, Georgia
- Robert B./D., born June 1883, Georgia
- Thomas O., born June 1884, Georgia
- William Marrian, b. November 1885, Georgia

Henry J. Holcomb, was born July 1878 in Pickens County, Georgia, the son of Henry Jackson and Martha Cook Holcomb. Henry married Bertha L. White, the daughter of Eppy and Martha T. White of Randolph County, Alabama. Bertha was born about 1885 in Alabama. Their children are
- Arthur, born abt 1907, in Louisiana
- Homer, born abt 1909, in Texas
- Beulah, born abt 1910, in Texas
- Russell, born abt 1914 in Louisiana
Henry married Fannie J., who was born abt 1898 in Louisiana between 1920 and 1930 and while census record ages are notorious for being "off" the ages of the children look like maybe they were both married previously - or maybe not! The daughter Minnie R., is about 10 years older than the next child Lizzie. Lizzie's birth would fit in with a marriage after 1920. If anyone can shed any light on this please email me. Their children may be
- Minnie R., born abt 1915 in Louisiana
- Lizzie C., born abt 1925 in Louisiana
- Carlton J., born abt 1928 in Louisiana
