Our Galloway Family
ASBURY GALLOWAY
Elbe Asbury Galloway, the son of William F. and Lavisa McClure Galloway,
was born about 1830 probably in Rabun County, Georgia. Asbury married Emily
Searcy in Gilmer County, Georgia on 21 December 1848. Emily was born about 1830
in North Carolina. While I have found them on census records, I lose them after
the 1860 census, if anyone can tell me where they are I would appreciate it.
Asbury and Emily had these children

- Sarah Ann Galloway, b. 3 July 1853; d. 14 August 1920
- Alvin R. Galloway, b. 24 June 1855; d. 29 November 1921
- Elmina C. Galloway, b. Abt 1858

William D. Galloway, the son of Asbury and Emily Searcy Galloway, was born
about 1851 probably in Gilmer County, Georgia. He married his wife, Elizabeth,
who was born abt 1849 in Virginia, about 1875. Both died after 1910. We have found
no record of children for this couple but census records show that they often
had a family member living with them. They are found on these census records

Sarah Ann Galloway, the daughter of Asbury and Elizabeth Searcy Galloway,
was born 3 July 1853, possibly in North Carolina and died 14 August 1920 in
Rabun County, Georgia. Sarah married William Riley Talley about 1875, he was
born 8 August 1848 and died 17 April 1926 also in Rabun County, Georgia. William
is buried in the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Rabun County,
Georgia, is Sarah Ann buried there also?. Sarah and William had a house full
of children

Alvin R. Galloway, the son of Asbury and Emily Searcy Galloway, was born
24 June 1855 in Georgia and died 29 November 1921 in Oconee County, South Carolina.
Alvin married Rachel Caroline Ledford about 1877. Rachel, born 12 January 1841
the daughter of David Burton and Jane Talley Ledford, died 24 October 1928 in
Oconee County, South Carolina. She and Alvin are buried in the Whitmire Methodist
Church Cemetery. Their children are
- Burton Galloway, b. August 1878
- Francis A. Galloway, b. September 1880
- Alvin W. Galloway, b. November 1882
- Allen Vance Galloway, b. 25 October 1885
married Varina Jane, about 1911
