Know all men by these presents that I, Henry Dryman, Sen. of the State of
North Carolina and County of Buncombe for and in consideration of the sum
of one hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by Henry Dryman, Jun.
of the County and State aforesaid at and before the sealing and signing of
these presents the receipt and payment where of is hereby acknowledged for
myself and my heirs do hereby bargain, sell and confirm unto the said Henry
Dryman Jun., his heirs and assigns forever a certain piece or parcel of land
in the County and State aforesaid situate lying and being as follows on the
west side of French Broad River on Elijah Lees Mill Creek beginning on
Robert Penlands beginning corner a black oak on the side of a ridge running
along said Penlands south line from compliment west with said line south
forty five degrees east one hundred and twenty poles crossing said creek to
a spanish oak and dogwood on the bank of a small drain thence north forty
five degrees east one hundred and ten poles to a stake thence north forty
five degrees west one hundred and twenty poles to a stake thence south forty
five degrees west one hundred and ten poles to the place of beginning number
from the state grant 1434 containing eighty acres which piece or parcel of
land with all ways woods, waters and every other appurtenances thereunto
belonging I myself, my heirs, Executors and Administrators have sold, set
over, conveyed, released and confirmed in open market to the said Henry
Dryman, Jun., his heirs, Executors, Administrators or Assigns forever and I
do hereby for myself, my heirs, Executors and Administrators covenant to
and with the said Henry Dryman, Jun. , his Executors or assigns that I and
my heirs, Executors or Administrators shall warrant and defend the said
piece or parcel of land with all and every of its members free from all
lawful claim of any person or persons whatsoever unto the said Henry Dryman,
Jun., his heirs, Executors, Administrators as Assigns. In Witness where of

This Indenture made this twenty third day of May one thousand eight hundred
and seven between Henry Dryman, Sen. of Buncombe County and State of North
Carolina of the one part and Henry Dryman, Jun. and State aforesaid of the
other part witnesseth that the said Henry Dryman Sen. for and in
consideration of the sum of fifty dollars to me in hand paid by the said
Henry Dryman, Jun., the right whereof is hereby acknowledged and there of
and every part of, he the said Henry Dryman satisfied and fully paid have
give and granted, bargained and sold, aliened in fee off'd and I confirm
unto the said Henry Dryman, Jun. and his heirs a certain tract or parcel
of land lying and being in the County and State aforesaid on the west side
of French Broad River containing thirty acres beginning on a black oak
corner of the old survey and running thence south forty five west thirty
poles to a pine, thence south forty five east one hundred and sixty poles
to a black oak, thence north forty five east thirty poles to a stake,
thence north forty five west one hundred and sixty poles to the beginning:
Together with all ways waters, water courses, Emoliments, Heriditaments and
Appurtances to the same belonging or in any ways appertaining to have and
to hold unto the said Henry Dryman, Jun., his heirs and assigns forever to
the only proper use and behoofs of him the said Henry Dryman, Jun., his
heirs and assigns forever and he the said Henry Dryman Sen. for himself,
his heirs, Executors and Administrators doth Covenant and Grant to and with
the above said Henry Dryman Jun., his Heirs, Executors and Administrators
and Assigns that the above bargained premises are and shall be an
Indefeasible Estate of Inheritance in fee simple unto him the said Henry
Dryman, his heirs and assigns forever from the lawful claim of any person

On a branch of Smith Mill Creek on the west side of French Broad River beginning on a spanish oak bush on Vestel & Drymans division lin running west one hundred & eighty three poles to a post oak thence north ten poles to a post oak on John Jarrell line thence west with said line seventy six poles to a black oak thence south one hundred & thirty four poles to a stake then east two hundred & twenty one poles to a spanish oak then south fifty four poles to two spanishoak then east nineteen poles to a post oak a corner of the above division line thence north with said line to the beginning - containing two hundred & eleven acres it being part of two tracts of above. Which said land with all ways woods waters and every appurtenance thereunto belonging or appertaining I have for myself and my heirs sold set over and conveyed unto the said Henry Dryman and his heirs and I do for myself and my heirs covenant and agree to & with the sd. OLD MACON COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA RECORDS:
Eli McKee Sheriff of Macon to John Howard of Macon, to satisfy a judgement
against John D. Dryman, William Dryman, Eliza Dryman, Martain Nortain and
his wife Elvira, Martin L. Long and his wife Dorcas, Charles S. Dryman,
James Dryman,Jane Dryman, Virgil Dryman, Elizabeth Dryman, heirs of Henry
Dryman deceased. The amount mentioned was $184.41 with interest from
September 24, 1839 and the costs amounted to $7.75. This amount was
recovered by one Saul Smith of the heirs. A parcel of land was sold by
public sale, located on the West side of the Tennessee River, including
the mouth of Mulberry Creek. Three other parcels in district 14 were sold
and another parcel in district 15. All parcels were adjoining tracts.
The widow of Gideon Norton was given a dowry from this sale as he had
purchased the property in 1820 and apparently gave parts to his sons-in-
laws who sold them to Henry Dryman. On Henry Drymans death they became
the right of his legal heirs.
Public sale date January 20, 1841, John Howard had the high bid of $200.00.

Henry Dryman was a witness to a sale of property between Abner State/Slate and wife Jane to William Carpenter of Macon, part of a parcel on Bridge Branch for $57.00. This was dated January 2, 1832 and was located in Section 92, district 15.

Elizabeth Dryman bought this parcel from the state in October 24, 1836 in Franklin, North Carolina. Witnessed by Martin L. Long and Martain Norton, proven by Laban Long in March of 1839.

That my burial expenses be done in a descent manner be paid out of my estate and also all my just debts.

I do give and bequeath to my two daughters Mary Eliza Dryman and Louisa Jane Dryman all my lands where I now live and so all my interest in the land of Charles Dryman DECEASED also all my other property of every kind and description to be equally divided between the two daughters above named.

Item 1st
I do give and bequeath to my nephew William Dryman all the tract of land on which I now live and also all my interest in the land on which James Dryman now lives formerly owned by Charles Dryman, also all my interest in the tract of land whereon John Curtis formerly lived and also my interest in all mtsy of land made by Charles Dryman joining my home, land also all my interest in the mtsy of land made by Charles Dryman and other joining James Thomas.
Item 2nd
I do give and bequeath to the said William J. Dryman, my nephew all my stock property of every kind consisting of horses cattle hogs sheep & wagons.
Item 3rd
I do give and bequeath to my niece Marinda A. Dryman all my household and kitchen furniture of every kind and also privilege to make her home with the said William J. Dryman during her single life.
Item 4th
I do give and bequeath to the daughter of the same Marineda A. Dryman and her mother one half of all the mineral in all my land and also privilege to make her home & the home of her daughter with the said William J. Dryman in my house until she is of full age.
Item 5th
That all my just debts & burial expenses be paid out of my estate.
