He married (1) Sarah Stanfield 06 April 1890 in Trion, Chattooga County, Georgia, daughter of James Stanfield and Amanda. She was born Abt. 1866 in Tennessee, and died 1893 in Trion, Chattooga County, Georgia. He married (2) Sarah Crowe 15 April 1894 in Trion, Chattooga County, Georgia. She was born October 1870 in Georgia, and died Abt. June 1907 in Trion, Chattooga County, Georgia. He married (3) Mattie Jane Cornelius 09 May 1909 in Trion, Chattooga County, Georgia, daughter of Thomas Cornelius and Elizabeth Mitchell. She was born 11 January 1875 in Cherokee County, Alabama, and died 24 October 1947 in Summerville, Chattooga County, Georgia.
Samuel and Sarah Stanfield had two children that did not survive infancy, it is believed that she died in childbirth with the second baby. All three are said to be buried in Trion Cemetery in Trion, Chattanooga County, Georgia, none have grave markers and cemetery records were lost in a fire in the mid 1970's.

When his father, John Crabtree, applied for his pension, he listed his children and their birthdates, he gave Samuel's as 5 July 1871 - family always said he was born on 7 July 1870. Samuel's death certificate gives his date of death as 30 January 1924, his tombstone has 1 February 1924.

LAST FUNERAL RITES HELD THURSDAY FOR PROMINENT CITIZEN
Funeral Services for Samuel F. Crabtree who died Tuesday at 10 o'clock at his residence, 17 North McLin Street, were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the residence with Rev. S.C. Elrod officiating.
The deceased is survived by his widow and seven children: four sons, Homer, Ernest, Wheeler and Lester Crabtree; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Suits, Nellie and Fleedie Crabtree all of Rome.
Interment was in Oakland cemetery, W. B. Nichols, funeral directors, in charge.
Homer Franklin Crabtree, the son of Samuel and Sarah Crabtree, was born 20 August 1898 in Trion, Chattooga County, Georgia, and died 29 November 1974 in Walker County, Georgia. He married Eva Warren Abt. 1917. She was born 19 May 1900 in Georgia, and died 16 November 1968 in Chattooga County, Georgia.

Mary Lucille Crabtree, the daughter of Samuel and Sarah Crabtree, was born 1901 in Trion, Chattooga County, Georgia, and died ??. She married Marion Dalton Suits2 30 December 1916 in Floyd County, Georgia, son of Waldeson Suits and Unknown. He was born 23 November 1897 in Texas, and died 09 September 1952 in Lee County, Alabama.

Ernest Lavell Crabtree, the son of Samuel and Sarah Crabtree, was born 20 November 1902 in Trion, Chattooga County, Georgia, and died 18 November 1975 in Summerville, Chattooga County, Georgia1. He married Willie Mae Mason Abt. 1922 in Georgia. She was born 22 January 1908 in Georgia, and died 18 September 1995 in Lanett, Chambers County, Alabama.

Charles Wheeler Crabtree, the son of Samuel and Sarah Crabtree was born 08 November 1904 in Summerville, Chattooga County, Georgia, and died 30 September 1970 in Summerville, Chattooga County, Georgia. He married Clara Maude Self 22 July 1929 in Centre, Cherokee County, Alabama, daughter of Francis Self and Cora Marshall. She was born 28 November 1912 in Pickens County, South Carolina, and died 20 January 1983 in Rome, Floyd County, Georgia.

She married Raymond Riley Garmony 16 February 1924 in Georgia, son of James Garmony and Susan Jones. He was born 14 November 1904 in Georgia, and died 03 December 1969 in Summerville, Chattooga County, Georgia.

Robert Lee Lester Crabtree, the son of Samuel and Mattie Jane Crabtree, was born 30 April 1912 in Trion, Chattooga County, Georgia, and died 18 July 1978 in Decatur, DeKalb County, Georgia. He married Amy Vera Galloway 25 May 1935 in Chattooga County, Georgia, daughter of James Galloway and Lizzie Cook.
