George Washington Wesley Crabtree, the son of John and Margaret Fuller Crabtree, was born 24 August 1876 in Tennessee, and died 08 April 1938 in Sedan, Chautauqua County, Kansas. He married Lucy Ann Carrol 14 May 1897 in Laclede County, Missouri, daughter of Burdine Carrol and Sarah Cannady. She was born October 1872 in Illinois, and died Bet. 1930 - 1938 in Probably Picher, Ottawa County, Oklahoma. George's middle name has been the subject of some discussion, Tracy Montgomery, said that "My grandfather was George's 6th child, James, born in 1913 and my father was named for his grandfather - George Wesley Crabtree", but when George registered for the draft during the first World War, he gave his name as 'George Washington Crabtree', the simplest answer is that he had two middle names. We are also assuming that Lucy Ann Carrol had been married previously, Doxie was born in 1891 and Lucy and George did not marry until 1897, but Doxie is always shown as his daughter on census records, except for the 1910 where she is listed as his stepdaughter, so we have included her as his child.
