Gazaway Cook, the son of Richard and Sarah Land Cook, was
born 15 September 1849 in Georgia, he married Becky Reinhardt.
Soon after their marriage they moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee
where both died. Their daughters were sent back to Georgia to
live with Gazaway's parents, Richard and Sarah Land Cook.
Ader Jane told her children of being put aboard a train with name
tags attached to their clothing for their journey to their
grandparents home. Gazaway and Becky had three daughters:
- Ella married 1. ??Stancil; 2. ?? Doss - no further
information
- Ader Jane

George Washington Cook, the son of Richard and Sarah Land
Cook, was born 23 May 1861 in Pickens County, Georgia and was
married three times. We have not found a marriage record for George and his 1st wife Jane Dryman, who was born in Pickens County, South Carolina. With both parents dead by 1868, we find Jane and her brother William living with their married sister's family, Nathaniel Greenberry and Martha Dryman Elenburg in Gilmer County, Georgia. Also in Gilmer County is their sister Louisa and her husband John C. Elenburg. By 1880 the Elenburgs had moved to Dawson County, Georgia and Jane was married to George Cook. They seemed to have stayed in the Pickens County area until at least 1889 when we find record of a FiFa in Pickens County, GA against George for $5.05.
See Pickens County, Georgia FiFa. Jane would have been pregnant with their son Newman at this time, what records we have found state that Newman was born in Georgia, sometime after his birth this family headed west to Arkansas. Newman was born in May and by August 1889 George and family had arrived in Siloam Springs, Benton County, Arkansas, where he wrote his brother James Jasper on 19 August 1889 and on 5 October 1889.
