On the motion of George Ring and Richard Hale, a certificate is granted for obtaining letters of administrations of the Estate of Martin Ring, and whereupon they entered into with William Hale, Lewis Hale, Dudley Hale, and Jacob Spraker, their securities, and qualified according to law.
Ordered that Dudley Hale be appointed Overseer of the road in place of Timothy Roark, and that he, with the usual hands, keep the same in repair."

"The following persons were returned as grand jury to wit: Joshua Stoneman, William Hail, John Fielder, John Welsh, William McKnight, Lewis Hail, Richard Hail, John Woods, Jacob Sprecker, Stephn Bourn, Jr., Daniel Keith, Stephen Hail, Mahlon Collins, Nimrod Moore, Joshua Hanks, Elisha Bedwell, Dudley Hail, Stephen Stone, Dennis Fielder, Jonathan Thomas, Francis Hail and William Bonham, who being sworn received a charge from the court and retired to consider their presentments and after some time returned into court and made presentments in the following words, to wit: "We the grand jury impanneled for the county of Grayson do present David Cornutt for a breach of the peace by beating and abusing a certain Jesse Vaughn, both labourers of Grayson County at the house of Stephen Hail, on the third day of April last by information of Richmond Hail and Stephen Hail two of our own body."

I William Hail of the County of Grayson and State of Virginia being weak in body but of a sound mind and disposing memory, do make and ordain my last will and testament as follows. 1st, I will and bequeath until my wife Lucy all my lands that (cannot read) during her natural life with exception of five acres which have been selected for the Seat of Justice for this county and if the same tract? should not be made use of for that purpose, then to be hers for and during her natural life time. 2, I reserve for the use of my son Peyton Hail the privilege to (cannot read) farm? my lands upon the tract of land whereon I now live, also and (cannot read) continue farming during the life time of my wife Lucy Hail. 3rd, And after the death of my wife Lucy Hail I will and bequeath unto my son Peyton Hail all of my lands which I now own except the tracts I purchased from Nathan Thomas and (cannot read) Brewer? 4th, After the death of my wife Lucy Hail, I will that the two last (cannot read) tracts of land be sold to the highest bidder for case. 5th, And out of the money coming from such sale I will that three hundred dollars be paid to my daughter Susannah Bryant, three hundred dollars to Rosamond Dickinson, and two hundred dollars to Elizabeth Whitman. 6th, I will and bequeath until my wife Lucy during her natural life my wagon and (horses and farm chore horses?), all my farming utensils, household and kitchen furniture, smith tools together with twenty head of choice cattle, twenty head of choice sheep. (cannot read five lines) David Whitman and John Dickinson (cannot read) and the remaining money from such to be equally divided among my children Stephen Hail, William Hail, Charles Hail, Samuel M Hail, Peyton G hail, Susannah Bryant, Elizabeth Whitman, Rosamond Dickinson, William Hail, the children of my son John Hail deceased. 7th, I further will that in lieu of (cannot read) sales of said slaves my negro (cannot read) persons and that my son Stephen hail take him if this (cannot read) upon him by the said appraisers (cannot read) his part of the money remaining from the sales of the said slaves (cannot read) for him to account to the heirs for the same, if not, then the amount to be made out of the sales of the other slaves. 9th, My will and desire is that at my death all the remaining part of my estate except what has been willed to my wife Lucy Hail be sold to the highest bidder and the money coming from such sales to be equally divided among my children Stephen Hail, William Hail, Charles Hail, Samuel M Hail, Peyton G Hail, the children of my son (Simon?) Hail, the children of my daughter Nancy Gose, the children of my son John Hail, Susannah Bryant, Elizabeth Whitman, Rosamond Dickinson. 10th, My will and desire is that at the death of my wife Lucy Hail all the personal property which has been willed to her or that she may have shall be sold to the highest bidder and the money to be equally divided among my children Stephen Hail, William Hail, Charles Hail, Samuel M Hail, Peyton G Hail, the children of my son John Hail, the children of my son (Simon?)
