"Kent Pioneer Passes Away
Tilbury, June 18 - The death of the late Henry Magee on Saturday evening removes another of the pioneer settlers of this district. Mr. Magee was born in County Armagh, Ireland, eighty-four years ago. In early youth he taught school in his native land, but at the age of twenty-three, with his young wife (formerly Miss Agnes Warnock) he migrated to Canada. Their first Canadian home was at Peterborough, where they lived for two years. Then they settled in Tilbury East remaining on their farm until twehty-four years ago when they retired and took up their residence in a newly-built home on Canal Street, Tilbury. Deceased was a school trustee in Tilbury East township for a number of years and always took an interest in public affacirs. He was a staunch Anglican and a lifelong Conservative. In December, 1928, Mrs. Magee passed away after years of semi-invalidism. But for failing sight, due to cataracts from which he had suffered for serveral years, Mr. Magee was unusually active for one of his age and was able to walk about until a month ago. Five days before his death he was taken to the public general hospital, Chatham, where death occurred. Last of his family.
Surviving members of the immediate family - two sons, James, Ogden, Alberta; John A., Windsor; daughters, Mrs. Newton Ainslie, with whom he had his home, and Mrs. Albert Shaufler, both of this town."

"Final Rites for Late H. Magee
Impressive Service at Funeral of Highly Respected Tilbury Man.
Tilbury, June 19 - A tribute of respect and friendship was expressed in the large attendance which marked the obsequies of the late Henry Magee, which were conducted in St. Andrew's church on Tuesday afternoon. Rev. T. Dobson, rector of the church and the pastor of deceased and family, read the burial service and preached an eloquent sermon in which he referred to the debt which posterity owed the pioneers of this district, of which deceased was one. The casket was surrounded by beautiful floral tokens and among the audience were many old friends and neighbors of the deceased and family from their former home in Tilbury East, and from a distance. The hymns sung throughout the service were "Peace, Perfect Peace," "Rock of Ages," and "Abide With Me." Interment was made in the family plot in the Maple Leaf Cemetery, Tilbury. Five grandsons and one great grandson carried the remains to their last resting-place, Archibald, Harry and Stuart Shaufler, Gordon Ainslie, Morley Magee and Durwood Ross. Friends and relatives from out of town present at the last rites were: Mr. and Mrs. John A. Magee and Mr. and Mrs. Morley Magee, of Walkerville; Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Hornick and daughter Helen, of Kingsville; Mrs. Rachel Hornick, of Hamilton; Mrs. Elmer Ainslie, Sandwich; Mrs. B.
