| 14 Mar 1878 ``Died: On Wednesday morning, February 20 1878, of scarlet fever, Nellie, daughter of George L. and Isabella Weast, aged 7 years, 5 months and 8 days. On Friday morning, March 8, 1878, of scarlet fever, Mirtie, youngest daughter of George L. and Isabella Weast, aged 5 years, 1 month and 3 days. A crushing affliction has fallen on this family in the death of their two little ones. A great void is left in the family circle. Sweet nellie and Mirtie held a place in the affections of parents, brothers and sisters that sounds hollow and meaningless when expressed in words. Of retiring dispositions, they avoided notice, but this same timidity made them many friends - friends who deeply sympathize with the parents in their great loss. Nellie, Mirtie, we have lost them, household flowers, they've passed away; seet in life, we miss them, miss them, though their night be turned to day, First our Nellie heard the summons calling her to brighter climes; quickly she the summons answered gone to chant the heavnely hymns. soon, too soon, our mirtie followed followed up the shining way gone to be with angel Nellie, Angel's toys with there they'll play. sad our hearts and full of sorrow, to be parted from our babes but dear Jesus thou hast called them called from earth to heaven to live'' | ||
