"Elizabeth Muncreef on February 5, 1774 bought land on the south side of Burnt Coat Swamp in Southern Halifax county form Lewis and Jemima Pope. the acreage was 120 acres, more or less. Sampson Muncreef made his mark as Elizabeth witness. Halifax conveyances. Sampson and Josiah soon appear thereafter in Georgia documents. They were among the Revolutionary soldiers of that state."
