Moved<1783-1784>GA
apparently moved to GA bef 1784 as both Caleb and William indicated they were born in that state on the 1850 census

Property13 Jul 1784Wilkes co., GA
"A deed for 200 acres to Nathan Greene from Maxey Moncrief and Elizabeth his wife of that county of Wilkes. The land was in Greene co. and this must mean that it was in taht section which later became part of Hancock co. It was described as having been granted Maxey by his honour the Governor 13 Jul 1784. This is possibly the same land of 1786 and that the diff in dates means taht the land was actually handed over on the earlier date but official title was not signed in 1786. signed Maxey Moncrief, Elizabeth (her mark) Crief"
"The land grants of 1786 are of particular genealogical importance and that date of 13 July 1784 in Greene-Hancock co. Deed is also important. Since we know that a Revolutionary soldier could receive 200 acres of bounty land if he wre unmarried, but would received an additonal 50 acres if he were married and an additional 50 acres for each child and slave - it is apparent that Maxey and Elizabeth were married about the time he applied for the 200 acres and that he asked for an additional 100 when their first child was born."
