"Albert Schaufler (sic) bought a farm on the eleventh concession of Tilbury west." He cleared 75 acres, felling trees and stumps and burning them. "He then built his first home on this farm near Strangfield, Ontario. They lived there for seven years and four of their children were born here. Etna, Pansy, Carl (lived one day) and Archibald (Archie)." They sold this farm in 1898.

"Albert Shaufler Passes Away
Albert Shaufler passed away after a short illness at Riverside Hospital in Windsor on January 6, 1959, in his 90th year.
Born in Chatham, Mr. Shaufler was a farmer most of his life owning farms at Strangfield and on No 98 Highway between Valetta and Tilbury. When he retired and moved to Tilbury, he became the caretaker of the Tilbury Memorial Park and planted the first trees on the site chosen, and also took over the Bowling Green when it first was started. He also was an employee of the Tilbury Brick and Tile Company.
Mr. Shaufler was a member of the Darrel S. Moffat Memorial United Church. He also was a member of the Coronation Lodge, Oddfellows, and Hackett L.O.L. 808 of Quinn.
His wife predeceased him in 1948.
Surviving are three sons, Archie in Windsor; Stewart in Detroit; and Harry of Tilbury East; four daughters, Mrs. George (Etna) Dodson of Comber; Alice Sinclair of Pontiac, Michigan; Mrs. Keith (Edith) Mather of London; and Mrs. Gordon (Evelyn) Burgess of Tornoto; one half sister, Josie in the United States; 24 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Shaufler will rest at the Hornick Funeral Home on Stewart Avenue, Tilbury, from January 8, until Saturday, January 10 at 12 noon when he will be moved to the Darrel S. Moffat United Church for services at 3:00 pm, Rev. D. G. Tipple officiating. Interment will be made in St. George's Cemetery in the Township of Tilbury North.
The Coronation Lodge of Oddfellows will meet at the Hornick Funeral Home for services."

was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Loyal Orange Lodge.
