Free BMD An ongoing project to index birth/death/marriage registrations in the UK 1835 - 1899. Searchable database.

 

Genealogy Sites (Scottish and Scots-Irish)

Scots Origins Online access to the Scottish birth/marriage/death/1891 census index for a fee. Copies (extracts) from Old Parish and Statutory Registers are available.

The Scottish Genealogy Society Carries a good amount of genealogical publications from all over Scotland.

The Tay Valley Family History Society Family history society for Angus, Fife, Kinross, and Perthshire. Carries genealogical publications for this area.

The Angus Archives holds materials from the seven burghs of Angus (Arbroath, Brechin, Carnoustie, Forfar, Kirriemuir, Montrose and Monifieth) and the Angus County Council.

The Monikie, Scotland Website An excellent resource if your family came from Monikie, Angus, Scotland. Includes local information as well as information about the Monikie & Newbigging Churches. A database of the kirkyard gravestone inscriptions is in the works and can be downloaded in MS Works format. Additionally, "The Monikie Story" by Rev. W. Douglas Chisholm, a social history of the area, is available for purchase here.
