Richard WEEDEN was born in Southwark, Surrey on 13th Jan. 1822, son of George and Catherine WEEDEN (née PERME). He was a cooper by trade, and at the age of 13 started his apprenticeship with Messrs Evans & Lascelles of Gt Guildford St. In 1841, Richard(15) was an apprentice living at home with mother Catherine(60), and sister? Susanna(30) at Townsend Yard, Southwark St Saviour.* In 1851-I still haven't found him. Richard died at the age of 69 on 16th May 1892 of typhoid fever. |
Sarah Elizabeth DOWNES was born in Southwark in 1831, daughter of James (and Mary?) DOWNES. Her father was a hairdresser, according to Sarah's marriage certificate. I have searched for Sarah in 1841 and 1851, The closest match in 1841, is as a 10 yr old in Southwark. In 1851, she *may* be the 20 year old servant in Southwark St George. She died at the age of 70 on 5th July 1901 of chronic bronchitis. |
