Nine children between 1823 and 1835: Martha, Ann, Elizabeth, Maria, James, James, Walker, John & William. James and Walker both emigrated to Australia in 1853 on the "Madagascar." Walker took a job as a groom where he met Bridget O'Neil. She was working as a housemaid at the same place, as her father had taken her away from Ireland during the Potato Blight. He married Bridget and settled in Albany where they raised seven children. My cousin Paul is descended from Walker & Bridget. Meanwhile, James(an architect), was back in England by 1861, unmarried, living in Hitchin, Herts, with his widowed mother Anne. He married a Hitchin woman, Elizabeth WIDDOWS in 1863, and is to be found at the same address, Sun St, Hitchin from 1871 onwards. James and Elizabeth both died in 1910 just a few months apart. John was buried 25 Sep 1841, Donington. |
