Family tradition has it that we are descended from Sir Christopher Mimms who died in 1682, who was supposedly Lord Mayor or Sheriff of London. Have not found any evidence that supports this as yet. neither did my cousin Peter Mimms in his history of the family, "Only For Life-A Labouring family from Civil war to Second World war". (Brewin Books 1995. ISBN: 1 85858 065X). I have found an Admiral Sir Christopher Mims who served in the Royal Navy in the 17th century, but have been unable to claim him, as yet! The search continues.
