Hunstanton, Norfolk in old postcards The Boating Lake and Swimming Pool |
|
The Boating Lake taken towards the end of WW2. The island in the middle was a favourite childhood place. A great place to hide from grown-ups! |
One winter it froze over(1963?). I remember attempting to skate and falling through the ice. |
The message on the back says this was a new attraction in Hunstanton. Posted 1913. |
Another view of the Boating Lake-much later than the last three- probably the 1960's. I like this one as it shows The Kit Kat in the background. Many Saturday nights were spent there in the 1970's with good friends. |

The Blue Lagoon Swimming Pool. This is where I learned to swim. This image brings back a whole host of memories, the Seagull club, cheese & onion crisps, icy water early morning, sunbathing and the smell of tar, the water slides, the diving boards, It's a Knockout..... it could be yesterday. |
Another view of the swimming pool. Alas no longer there. It was filled in during the summer of 1967. Replaced by a car park, then the Oasis. |
