Lt. William J. Gartman of U. S. Navy Wedded Recently
Two persons in different branches of service, Lt. Corrine Rose Simons of the
navy nurse corps, and Lt. William Joseph Gartman of the dental corps, United
States navy, were married in an 11 o'clock ceremony on Sept. 6 at Lake City,
Minn., where the bride's mother, Mrs. William Simons, resides. The
bridegroom is the son of Mrs. F. W. Gartman, who lives at the Anna M. Reiss
The nuptial service was performed by the Rev. Michael Glynn at St. Mary's
Catholic church. The altar boys were relatives of the bride, Joseph
Martinson, Jr., and Eugene Leonard.
William C. Wise, the bride's uncle, presented her in marriage. Her sister,
Miss Mary Simons, was chosen as the maid of honor.
Attorney John M. Poole of Sheboygan attended the bridegroom as best man.
Guests were ushered by Francis Simons of Caledonia and Bernard Simons.
Nuptial music was played and sung by the bride's aunt, Mrs. Sam Morley of Red
Wing. During the mass her selections were "Ave Maria," "Panis Angelicus" and
"Benedictus." Casper Koch, Red Wing, Minn., the bride's uncle, sang the
tenor part in the latter two numbers.
Among the guests from Sheboygan at the wedding reception and 1 o"clock
luncheon at the Lake City Golf and County club were Mrs. J. B. Mersberger,
Mrs. George Hammes, Mr. and Mrs. Roman Mersberger and Mrs. J. M. Poole and
A wedding trip through northern Minnesota and Wisconsin, Washington, D.C.,
and New York is being taken by the couple before the bride returns to St.
Albans Naval hospital in New York, and the bridegroom reports to Camp
Lejeune, N. C.
The former Miss Simons was graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing,
Minneapolis, and the bridegroom prepared for a career in dentistry at
Marquette university, Milwaukee.
