Anton Friedrichs is a harness-maker and saddler, doing business at No. 1633 Indiana Avenue, Sheboygan. He is a
native of this county, where his birth occurred August 31, 1862, and is one of a family of nine children born unto
Henry J. and Catherine (Meyer) Friedrichs, whose sketch appears elsewhere in this volume.
Our subject was reared to the trade of saddle and harness-making and acquired a good German and English education in
the city schools of this place. At the age of seventeen, he commenced learning his trade, which, when completed, he
followed in his own interest. He carries a full line of fine double and single harness, saddles, harness material,
trunks and valises, and commands a good trade, his patrons steadily increasing in numbers. The volume of business
he now does each year amounts to about $2,500. He has been in business for himself since 1879, and his gentlemanly
treatment of his customers has secured for him a paying trade. He is a sterling young man of good business ability,
and possesses in a marked degree the confidence of the people, which he well merits.
Mr. Friedrichs was married December 6, 1889, to Mrs. Bertha (Zimbal) Froehlich, daughter of August Zimbal, and a
native of this county. Her education was obtained in the schools here, and she has proved a valuable helpmate to
her husband. They have one bright little daughter, two years of age, who is called Antoinette B.
In politics, Mr. Friedrichs supports the Democracy, and deposited his first Presidential ballot for Grover
Cleveland. He is active in advancing the interests of his party and the welfare of his fellow-citizens. A man of
good judgment, he has the happy faculty of making friends readily, and he and his wife are highly respected among
the German American citizens of Sheboygan. A young man of recognized ability in the commercial world, he has bright
prospects for future success.
