Snedigar

My connection with the name Snedigar is as follows:

Ida Mae (or May) Shinn was born in 1867 in California to John R. and Mariah Doyle Shinn, their youngest child. In the mid-1880's she married another Californian, Robert O. Snedigar. They had two daughters: Laverne (1888-1901) and Florene (1890-1916).

Here is what I know about Robert O. Snedigar: He was born in August of 1865 in California. A census from 1880 lists a Robert O. Snedigar as being born abt. 1866 in California. His parents are listed as being Robert R. and Harriet B. Snedigar and at the time they were living in Camp Washington, Stanislaus co. Robert R. is listed as being born abt. 1839 in Illinois and his father is listed as from Ohio with his mother listed as from Kentucky. Harriet is listed as being born abt. 1840 in Tennessee and her father is listed as from Tennessee, mother from USA. Other children on the census include: James H., William M., and Ora L. Snedigar. Whether or not this was Ida Mae's in-laws is unknown, but I was fairly sure which is why I included the information.

About Ida and Robert's family: Ida Mae died in 1901 and was not in the 1900 census. The census lists Robert and his two daughters living with Ida's mother, Mariah Doyle Shinn in Woodbridge, California. Not long after Ida died, Laverne did also. Florene went on to marry Delbert D. Turner (b. abt. 1884 in California) and they had two daughters: Doris and Dorothy. In the 1910 census the family was living in Elkhorne, San Joaquin co. Delbert is listed as from California with father from Louisiana and mother from Maine. Florene died in 1916 and Delbert remarried someone named Hilda, they had a son named Delbert D. Turner, Jr. Beyond this point I know nothing about the family.
