Our True family has been traced back to Captain Henry (Trew) True born 30 May 1591 in Caister-On-Sea, Filby Parish, Norfolk, England who married first Mary Newale and then Isreal Pike. Henry came to America probably about 1630. He was a mariner and continued sailing after emigrating to America. Henry was master of a small ship, RETURNE, that hauled molasses and rum from the West Indies. It is believed that he died at sea while on an expedition to Canada in 1659. Henry was a member of Puritan Church.

I have not verified these early Trues, but the genealogy seems to be well documented. I will continue the story as I believe it to be true. Most of my research has been done after the family moved to Indiana.

Our line continues through his son Captain Henry B. True who was born 8 Mar 1643/44 in Salem, Essex, MA and married Jane Bradbury. Henry was clerk of the court, the militia Captain, a representative in the General Court & a deacon of the church. He was a house carpenter by trade.

Henry and Jane's son William True was born 6 Jun 1670 in Salisbury, Essex, MA. William married Eleanor Stevens. William was a weaver, farmer and selectman.

We continue through William and Eleanor's son William True. He was born 16 Nov 1700 in Salisbury, Essex, MA and married Anna Bradbury. William and Anna's son was Elijah True who was born 14 Jul 1744 in Salisbury, Essex, MA and married Susan Clifford. Elijah died 31 Jul 1821 in Perry, Wyoming, NY.

Elijah and Susan's son was Simon Clifford True born 29 Sep 1787 in Hardwick, Caledonia, VT. Simon married Phoebe Phelps 1810 in Vermont. By 1820 Simon was living in Perry, Genesee, New York. Simon died in Elkhart County, Indiana.

Our line descends through his Simon and Phoebe's son, Samuel B. True, who was born 19 Oct 1813 in New York and married Irene Fairbanks from Ireland. Samuel and Irene's son, William H. True was born in Schnectady, New York in 1836.

William H. True moved to Noble County, Indiana by 1850 and married Maria Simmons in Indiana. They had nine children. William and Maria's son Commodore Perry True was born 1 Dec 1860 in Kendalville, Noble, IN.

As a young man Commodore Perry True went to Kansas to work on the railroad. He later return to Indiana, married Flora May Eggart. Their first two children were born in Indiana before they made a permanent move to Kansas. Their remaining children were born in Ness County, Kansas. Commodore Perry True True worked as a cream tester at a dairy.

About 1916 Commodore Perry True bought a farm near Thurbur, Texas and kept books for the T.P. Oil and Coal Company in Palo Pinto, Texas. A year later Flora May Eggart made the trip with the younger children to settle in Strawn, Palo Pinto County, Texas. The family returned to Kansas several times after that to conduct business.
