By family tradition the origins of our Mosaly/Moseley family were French Huegonots. This is a family with one of my brick walls. Arnedus R. Loyd Moseley was susposedly born near Lynchburg in 1806. Arnedus is the only one of this family that I know of who came to Tennessee. He married Julina Melissa Gilbert in Greene County in 1840 and raised a large family. Arnedus was a wagon maker.

After the Civil War he and his family came by wagon train with the Allens, Thomasons, and other families. The Mosalys stopped first in Arkansas and then came to Texas, finally settling near Keller in Tarrant County. It was in Texas that the spelling of the name was changed to Mosaly.

Three of the Mosaly daughters married into the Allen family.
