Our first known Long ancestor, John Kennedy Long, was born in Virginia in 1776 and moved to Long's Bend, Hawkins County, Tennessee as a young man. John's occupation was a stone mason. He was married three times and had 12 children. His second wife was my ancestor, Sarah Ball.

My line continues through their son Thomas Alexander Long. During the Civil War Thomas, at the age of 47, enlisted in Capt. Miller's Co, Local Defense in Hawkins County. |
Thomas Long married Nancy Christian, granddaughter of Lewis Christian, our first immigrant to Tennessee. Thomas and Nancy Long's daughter, Sarah, married Stephen Christian, great-grandson of Lewis Christian.
