would love to say that I have traced our Knight family back to the beginnings of Knighthood in the
Middle Ages, but I'm afraid I am far from that point. Maybe one day that will be possible.

Our Knight came emigrated to Virginia during the
Colonial period. John Knight married Elizabeth Woodson. His will is probated in 1772 in Lunenburg County, Virginia. His son Jonathan
Knight married Judith Woodson. They moved to Granville County, North Carolina where his will was probated in 1809.
In 1770 Jonathan and Judith's son Jonathan B. was born
in North Carolina. He married Eleanor or Nellie Ledford and moved his family to Tennessee about 1810 to Beaver Creek in Bledsoe County.
Jonathan and Nellie had thirteen children.

Our line continues through his son, William
B. Knight. In 1850 he and his wife Mahala Campbell were living in White County, Tennessee. |
Approximately 1855
William Knight and his family emigrated to Laclede County, Missouri. William and Mahala settled just northwest of Eldridge Township.
By 1880 William had moved to Marion County, Arkansas to live with his daughter and son-in-law Harriett and William Coln. |

William and Mahala's youngest son, William "Bud" Knight was born in
Eldridge, Laclede, Missouri. He married Telia Chambers 7 Sep 1891. About 1906 he and his family moved to Rose Valley Township, Stafford County, Kansas,
then to Great Bend, Barton, Kansas.
William's oldest son, Claude Lee Knight
married Mabel May True in Great Bend, Kansas. This Knight family moved to Texas about 1919 and settled in Strawn, Palo Pinto, Texas.
