Our Coker family is from Sumner County, Tennessee, where many still reside. Jesse Coker was born in North Carolina in 1784 and moved to Tennessee about 1800 where he married Polly Chance. Jesse served in the War of 1812 as a private in the Tennessee Militia.
My line follows Jesse's son Evans McGee (Doc) Coker.
Jesse Coker's grandson, Samuel Richard Coker, came to Collin County, Texas as a young man with some of his mother's kin.
"Sam" Coker married Mary Agnes "Aggie" Christian and settled near Allen, Collin County, Texas. Sam died at the age of 35 of pneumonia and Aggie raised their four children with the aid of her large family.
