In May of 2001 our cemetery was officially declared an historic Texas cemetery by the Texas Historical Commission. An official dedication was held Saturday, October 6, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. with a dedication program and pot-luck dinner. Program personalities will included Bryon Zirkle, Tarrant County Historical Commission Chairman, Dorothy Rencurrel, Historical Marker Chairman, and Winnie Goldston, granddaughter of W.V.S. Allen

The Allen Cemetery is located west of Keller and south of Haslet in Tarrant County, Texas. Traveling north from Fort Worth on I-35W take the Golden Triangle-Keller Hicks exit; continue north on the frontage road 1 1/2 miles to the Keller-Hicks Road. and turn left (west) under the highway and go about 1.2 miles to where Harmon Road makes an abrupt turn left; enter Lacy Drive for 600 feet to the Gazda home; turn right and proceed through the field 1200 feet to the cemetery.

An Historic Texas Cemetery medallion and an interpretive plaque was placed at the cemetery. The plaque reads:

In the late 1860's the families of William (Tine) Valentine Severe Allen (1850-1916) and Mary Adaline (Mollie) Mosaly (1849-1924) came west from Tennessee by wagon train. The two married in Collin County in 1874 and settled here in Tarrant County in 1878. This burial ground was established in 1880 upon the death of their infant son, Isaac Sumner Allen.

Also buried here are Allen and Mosaly relatives, descendants, and neighbors, including two Confederate veterans, Tine's stepfather Thomas S. Carrier (1841-1927), and William Ham (1844-19282).

The cemetery continues to be maintained by descendants and family of W.V.S. and Mollie Allen.

125th Anniversary

Dear Ancestor

Your tombstone stands among the rest:
neglected and alone,
The name and date are chiseled out on polished marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care, it is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist. You died and I was born.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled one hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved. I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot, and come to visit you.
