David joined the Mormon Church about 1841 and moved from Osnabruck to Nauvoo, Illinois. He lived there until 1846 when he and his fellow Mormons were forced to flee Illinois to save their lives. David went to Pottawattamie, Iowa, and lived there till about 1853 when he went to Salt Lake City, Utah. He stayed there until 1858, then went to Scotts Bluff, Nebraska, and then to Trinidad, Texas. After a few years he returned to Midway, Utah. David and his brother,William Adam, were together in Nauvoo, but split when David went to Iowa and William Adam went to Utah. Although they both lived their later years in Utah, they lost contact with each other and it wasn't until 1950 that the two branches of the family again made contact.
