Danbury CT Vital Records
N.B.: the various Danbury CT Vital Records information collected here was recorded in books in the Danbury Town Clerk's office. They do not have any of the early documents. The earliest copies of original death certificates that they have on record date from 1906. The information in these records is what was recorded at the time of the birth. It is not necessarily correct. Parents' ages sometimes change a lot from child to child. Sometimes even the parents' names are not right (note Mattie Costello instead of Annie). Children were added who didn't exist (the second Thomas Shelvoy, son of Hugh Christopher). These are just a few examples. Finally not all of the information in the birth records was recorded word for word. Due to the desire to cover as much ground as possible in a very limited time and to increasing writer's cramp, information that didn't change from child to child was omitted (last name, occupation of father etc). The "highlights" were always recorded. At the time we were gathering the bulk of this information, the Danbury Reunion 2000 was little more than one month away and quantity (recording as many people as possible) was more important than quality (recording every word).
