James Shakespeare & Amelia Lister

of Aston and London

Amelia Lister was baptised 1780 at St. Phillips, Birmingham. She married James Shakespeare around 1802. Only two children of this union have been traced:

William Stratford Shakespeare, bapt. 31 Jan 1803, at St. Martin in the Fields, Westminster. He married Sarah Ann Griffiths, 8 Dec 1823, at Old Church, St. Pancras, London.
James Shakespeare, bapt 31 March 1812, at St. Phillips, Birmingham.

Given the gap it is likely that there are more children.

James died about 1813. Amelia died in July 1846, at Sheldon, and was buried in the family grave at Aston, aged 66. The place of James's burial is unknown, as is his place of origin.
