The IGI contains references to a Leonard Shakespeare of Isleworth, and refers to his marriage to Alice Parkes (of Sunningwell, Berks.) on 12 Sept 1614 at Isleworth. The same reference says that he died 26 March 1664, and that his father was named John. Children of this couple, as they appear on the IGI, are given below:
| Name | Date Born | Place |
| Elizabeth | abt 1615 | 'of Isleworth' |
| John | abt 1617 | 'of Isleworth' |
| William | abt 1619 | 'of Isleworth' |
| Ralph | abt 1621 | 'of Isleworth' |
| Sarah | abt 1625 | 'of Isleworth' |
| Robina | abt 1627 | 'of Isleworth' |
This bears some similarity to the names above, but the date of death and wife's name are different: is this the same or a different Leonard? The same marriage (Leonard Shakespeare and Alice Parkes 12 Sept 1614) is also listed under Berkshire, and gives the couples details as 'of Sunningwell, Berks.
Stopes, 'Shakespeare's Family' Chapter XIII (p 135-6) adds further detail:
The father of Leonard Shakespeare was probably named John
Leonard married firstly Alice Parkes, of Abingdon, on 17th September 1614, at Sunningwell, Berks., and secondly Elizabeth
Leonard died at an advanced age in 1664, when he made his will
Leonard's will mentions his children:
John
William (with a son named William)
Ralph
Elizabeth (whose married name was King)
Sara
Robina
The will also mentions his son-in-law Robert Parsons, who was made one of the overseeers. Leonard is also mentioned in the will of Leonard Wilmot of Clanfield, Oxfordshire, who was his godfather.
A Leonard Shakespeare, who may or may not be that same, had a daughter Judith baptised at Warehorne, Kent, 27 February 1596/7 (Stopes p 141).
