Joseph Shakespeare & Hannah Kinston

The descendants of Joseph & Hannah account for virtually all of the Shakespeares listed as born in Derbyshire in the 1881 census. The few individuals who cannot be proved at the present time are listed separately.

Joseph's place of origin is unknown at present, but finding him in an earlier census - possibly 1851 - would almost certainly provide the vital clue. Also, finding the record of his death or burial would give his age and therefore provide the year of his birth.
