Mrs. Fred Engle Dies Thursday Mrs. Fred a. (Elizabeth) Engle, 79, a lifelong resident
of the Metz community died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at her
home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the
Johnson Chapel. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery. |

Fred A. Engle and Miss Lizzie Lind, both of Metz, were married in Mitchellville this afternoon at four o'clock. They will leave next Monday for Ft. Scott, Kansas, near where they will take charge of a 400 acre farm belonging to Dr. Perry Engle of this city. The groom is a son of Andrew Engle and the bride a daughter of S. P. Lind. They are both worthy young people and will go away with the best wishes of many friends. ~ Newton Daily Herald, March 4, 1903. Fred A. Engle, 87, RR 2, Newton, one of the founders of
the state plowing contest, and longtime resident of Jasper
county, died at 8:50 p.m. Saturday at his home. Services
will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Chapel.
