Richard Seeley Reeves is the third child of Sarah Jane Noble and Jarvis Davis Reeves, and was a carpenter and builder in Camden, NJ as the shingle in the back of the Photo can attest to with use of a magnifying glass.  He helped his second son (William), build his home at 2708 Cramer Street, Stockton, NJ ( since annexed into Camden, NJ).

NOTE: there is conflicting information in a letter from "Uncle Charles Reeves" to Mary Ella Reeves.  It goes as "Now as Paternal grandfather, Richard Seely Reeves, was son of Jarvis Reeves and Mary Jane Noble, both from England."

Richard's wife, Sara Ann Bennett Reeves is the daughter (9th & last child) of Thomas Bennett, and his wife Mary Chessman.  Thomas Bennett, as the story goes, was an early Dutch settler, landing at Gloucester, NJ and then went further south to settle in what became Cumberland, Co, NJ.

This Reeves/Bennett union produced six offspring of which three made it to their adult  life.  I use the phrase "made it" to emphasize the harshness of life and the commonness of child and adolescent death, before the turn of the century.  I recall event when I was  being raised, in the 1940's my parents were very mindful of my health as things such as rhuematic fever, polio, measles, and mumps were big disablers of youth of my time.  Back on the Reeves, this page will cover lightly William Cheesman Reeves and "Uncle Charles Reeves" and then move to a different page to cover my ggrandfather Thomas Bennett Reeves.
