Germany to Pennsylvania,
Ohio and Indiana
Some branches of the HECKMAN family use HICKMAN.
The name HECKMANN goes back to the 14th Century
My third and fourth great-grandparents were Hannah HECKMAN 1777-1852 Botetourt County, Virginia to Montgomery County,
Ohio to Whitley County, Indiana and Christian KINSIE 1788-1859 Lancaster County,
Pennsylvania to Botetourt County, Virginia to Montgomery County, Ohio to Whitley County, Indiana. Their daughters Saba married
Joseph ZEIGLER and Juda married Henry ZUMBRUN.
Christian was a Church of the Brethren Deacon and along with my ZEIGLER, ZUMBRUN, and other families from Montgomery County, Ohio
formed the Blue River German Baptist
now Church of the Brethren Church in Whitley County, Indiana. They are buried in the Round Lake Cemetery
in Whitley County, Indiana.
Hannah's parents were John Jacob HECKMAN before 1741-1789 Germany to Franklin County, Virginia and Anna Barbara MEYER.
John's parents were Johann Peter HECKMAN about 1710-1712 to 1767-1774 Germany to Berks County, Pennsylvania
and Anna Elizabeth Margareth. Rothenberg, Germany to Berks County, Pennsylvania. They arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
on board the ship Judith September 15, 1748.
Peter was an early minister of the German Baptist Brethren at Little Swatara Church.
Another ancestor Philip ZIEGLER mentioned in this book and his descendants provided land on the Ziegler farm to eventually become the
ZIEGLER Meeting House.
Peter HECKMAN's 1775 will was in Berks County, Pennsylvania. Christian Newcommer was on the north side of Little Swatara Creek in Bethel Township near Little Mountain.
