.... William JESSE (mi), born ca 1831 VA (c1860), apparently died before 1870 (cms). There apparently were several William Jesses born Russell Co VA about 1831, one, the son of Vincent Jessee and Elizabeth CANDLER reportedly went to California and was not heard from again (jwj). Since the Oregon William is listed with a personal estate of $1000 but is working as a farm laborer (c1860), it is reasonable to assume he might have been working in the gold fields of California before coming to Oregon. Also, he named his son Vincent. Thus, he may be the "lost" son of Vincent Jessee of Virginia (see jwj). Sarah married second 10 March 1870 (mi)

Although Enoch is listed as a grandson, it is not clear why and is probably incorrect unless he was considered an adopted grandson.
